This is the Blended ONLINE COURSE + HANDS-ON SKILLS SESSION Option

This is the BLENDED LEARNING PALS Course Option

All PALS course options teach the same AHA science-based skills and result in the same AHA PALS Course Completion Card.

Is AHA PALS the right course for me?

PALS is geared towards healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course.

Blended Learning (online portion, followed by hands-on skills session)

HeartCode PALS is an online comprehensive eLearning program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development.

Students who successfully complete the online portion of the course receive a certificate granting them access to a PALS Hands-on Skills Session with an AHA PALS Instructor, or with a voice-assisted manikin (VAM) or Simulation Station. Students must successfully complete both the online portion and the hands-on skills session to receive a PALS Provider course completion card.

  • To enter the course, students must complete the PALS Precourse Self-Assessment. Students are then presented with 12 In-hospital patient cases and a team dynamics lesson. Cases may be repeated as many times as necessary to pass. Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students must pass the multiple-choice exam with a minimum score of 84%.
  • Web-based, self-paced eSimulation instructional program for PALS cognitive training
  • Students apply knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development
  • Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each simulation to facilitate learning
  • Access to the PALS Provider Manual, the 2015 Handbook of ECC, and 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC
  • Access to all information in course for two years following activation of course

AHA STUDENT MANUAL AND TEXTBOOK POLICY

Each student must have the current, appropriate course textbook of their own readily available for use before, during, and after the course.

Textbooks are designed for individual use and are an integral part of the student’s education. Students may reuse their textbooks during renewals or updates UNTIL NEW SCIENCE GUIDELINES ARE PUBLISHED. (i.e. 2020 AHA Update)

The American Heart Association (AHA) designs their resuscitation courses using the most current educational design concepts. In order to maximize the students’ learning potential and keep course length manageable, the AHA have designed the classroom courses with the intent that students will have the opportunity to study the course materials outside of the class itself. It is necessary that students have access to student manuals before, during, and after each course, especially if the students are less familiar with the skills.

RESCUE ELITE BOOK POLICY

NO BOOKS may be returned or refunded for any reason. Books may not be issued during the course and then returned for a refund; this includes if it has been unopened. Books may also not be shared during the course; this is against American Heart Association rules and guidelines. Per AHA Rules, each student must have their own current book in order to attend an AHA course.

* A MANUAL IS REQUIRED IN A COURSE OR YOU MAY NOT ENTER. *
